Insourcing initiatives allow the NHS to manage demand and optimise resources by bringing external expertise into NHS settings. Independent healthcare providers are instrumental in these initiatives, offering specialised skills and efficiencies that enhance service delivery. This award recognises providers who have successfully implemented insourcing projects, leading to improved service capacity, better patient outcomes, and increased operational efficiencies within the NHS. 

Eligibility

  • This award is open to any independent healthcare provider that has implemented insourcing initiatives to support the NHS 
  • Projects can be conducted independently or in collaboration with NHS providers or integrated care. While a partnership with the NHS is encouraged, it is not mandatory. However, all projects must serve NHS patients and provide evidence from the past two years up until the awards deadline date 

Ambition

  • Describe the specific challenges and context that your insourcing initiative addressed, focusing on how it enhanced NHS service delivery and patient care 
  • Outline the goals and targets set for the initiative, emphasising how it meets NHS needs and improves patient outcomes 
  • Highlight the innovative strategies or methodologies adopted, explaining their selection based on their potential to improve service capacity and operational efficiency 

Outcome

  • Provide clear, quantifiable evidence of the benefits realised for NHS patients, including improvements in service capacity, patient outcomes, and overall operational efficiency 
  • Discuss how these outcomes have positively impacted NHS operations, such as reduced waiting times, improved resource allocation, or enhanced patient management. 
  • Share specific success metrics, patient feedback, and comparative data (before-and-after) to demonstrate the tangible impact of the insourcing initiative on patient care and operational outcomes 

Spread

  • Describe how the successful insourcing initiative has been disseminated to benefit other healthcare providers or NHS organisations. 
  • Highlight instances where the insourcing initiative has been replicated or adapted in different healthcare settings, showcasing scalability and impact beyond initial implementations 

Involvement

  • Describe the engagement process of stakeholders, including healthcare staff, patients, and potential partners, throughout the implementation of the insourcing initiative 
  • Highlight the contributions and roles of stakeholders in shaping the development and success of the initiative 
  • Provide evidence of continuous stakeholder collaboration, showcasing feedback mechanisms, meetings, and collaborative tools used to ensure project success and sustainability 

Value

  • Detail how the insourcing initiative has significantly improved patient satisfaction and experience, providing specific examples of patient feedback and engagement 
  • Discuss any reductions in bureaucratic processes or time savings achieved for healthcare staff through the initiative 
  • Provide evidence of broader system value, such as enhanced diagnostic capacity, improved coordination between healthcare departments, and overall advancements in healthcare delivery efficiency
